Villages
- PYTHAGORION
Built on the ruins of the ancient city of Samos during the time of Polycrates, it condenses more than twenty - six centuries of Greek history. It is the main tourist resort on the island. Many yachts and sailing boats moor here in the large, picturesque harbour.
- CHORA
Three km northwest of Pythagoreio lies the village of Chora, at the northeast part of the homonymous plain. Untill 1854, Chora was the capital of the island and this is the reason of its name since almost all island capitals bare this name. The residents of Chora are occupied in tourism and agriculture.
- MARATHOKAMPOS
Marathokambos is a charming village nestled on the slopes of mount Kerkis on the northeastern side of the island, 55 kilometres from Samos Town. A balcony overlooking the south coast of the island.
- MYTILINIOI
The verdant village of Mitilinii is one of the largest on the island and stands on a valley with beautiful houses, churches and chapels, 12 km southwest of Samos, with a population of about 2,500. People from Mytilene settled here in 1700, after the earthquake in their homeland, giving the settlement its present name.
- PLATANOS
Platanos village is surrounded by Mt. Kerkes, Marathokambos and Karlovasi's sea. It was first settled in 1641 by people that came from Evoia Island. It was named after the many plane-trees (platanos in Greek) growing in the area. Its citizens grow vineyards.

- STAVRINIDES
Stavrinides village is built deep inside the forest. During the summer there are many festivities organized by local shopkeepers. Souma is a local traditional drink which every visitor should

- AMBELOS
Ambelos village is located 2 km outside Stavrinides through an asphalted road. In the past the village was called Nenedes, after its first inhabtant Nenes. It is said that the village's church was built in 1672.

- DRAKAIOI
Drakaioi village is located at a distance of about 6 kilometers outside Kalithea. It is the highest village on Kerkes. The locals are mainly farmers and stock breeders, preserve a traditional way of life.

- HYDROUSSA
Hydroussa is a small village built among A dense pine tree forest at the slopes of mount Ampelos in the area of Ambelos, Kontakeika, Stavrinides and Kontaitika.

- KALLITHEA
Kallithea village is located at a distance of about 7 kilometers outside Kambos on a road that passes through Kerkes forest.

- KONTAIIKA
Kontaiika village is located to the northeast of Hydroussa. It is said that its first settler was the shepherd K. Kontos after whom it was named

- KOUMARADAIOI
This small village was named after the many arbutuses ('koumaries') growing in the area. Koumaradaioi are built in a dense-vegetated area. In the village, the visitor can buy herbs and ceramics and visit the taverns and coffe-shops.

- KOUMEIKA
The first settlers came to the village from the city of Kymi in Evoia Island. The inhabitants are fishermen or farmers who grow olive-trees and onions. 15 minutes outside the village, there is Balos Beach which is awarded the blue flag of the European Union. There you can find bars a restaurants as well as a small dock for sailing-ships.

- MANOLATES
Leaving Agios Konstantinos heading to Manolates, the road passes through the area known as 'Aidonia'. The visitor can see a stream and many trees that reach up to 15 meters high. Wandering around Manolates you can see hens, goats and donkeys that are the only mean of transportation for the farmers. There is also good food, wine and coffee in taverns and bars found in Manolates. Another road leads to Stavrinides.

- MESOGEIA
Nine kilometers outside Pyrgos, you can find Mesogeia village that used to be called Kato Arvanites. According to tradition, two brothers from Albania with their families came to Mt. Ambelos, 400 meters above sea-level, and built their homes there. They lived isolated from the rest of the island. They were Christians and spoke an Illyrian dialect that nobody on the island understood. Their descendants built after many years the village known as Mesogeia.

- MYLOI
This beautiful village is built 22 kilometers outside the city of Samos, next to Imvrasos River. Myloi ('mills') took its name from the water-mills of the river. It is one of the oldest settlements of the village, founded in 1562 by people from the island of Patmos.

- NEOCHORI
The area is also known as 'Reikia'. There, you can find a workshop making traditional statuettes and miniatures. Following the road to Karlovasi, you will find the village Agios Theodoros named after the homonymous church.

- PAGONDAS
The village is built on 180 meters altitude, on the eastern side of Mt. Bournias. It is a traditional village with dense structure and tiled roofs. The view from the village is extraordinary. It is like a porch looking out over the villages of the valley and the sea.

- PALEOCHORI
A small seaside settlement at the west edge of Samos close to Plaka, Agios Ioannis beach and the monastery of Agios Ioannis the Eleimonos.

- PALEOKASTRO
The village of Palaiokastro is named after the ancient Cyclopean wall whose relics can be found near the chapel of Agios Tryfonas

- PANDROSO
A small village at the slopes of mount Ampelos just a couple of km after Mesogeia.
The village is built near Amfillisus River. According to tradition, a shepherd's family, coming from Peloponnesus, found the location very pleasant and decided to settle in the area. The people are mostly farmers producing olive-oil, wine and honey. The visitor can find many stores selling honey and fragrant herbs.

- SPATHAREOI
Spathareoi village is built 320 meters above sea-level. The village is traditional, offers a beautiful panoramic view and preserves the traditional architecture of Mediterranean villages. The first inhabitant of the island was a priest called Petros Spathas. This priest had 18 children which built the houses of the settlement. Some claim the village is 499 years old.
